So I fell in a black hole and took a small, year-long blogging sabbatical… Sorry about that.

Moving on! Last weekend as a part of SF Design Week, Jered’s Pottery in the East Bay gathered an audience to watch three chefs compete in a three-heat, heated competition: cook a dish in a 800 degree kiln, create their own serving dish thrown on the wheel, and plate food on a sculptural piece designed by the one and only [self-proclaimed] international Clayboy and cowboy, Jered Nelson.

The three chefs included Kelsey Kerr from Standard Fare in Berkeley, Mark Liberman from AQ in San Francisco, and Galen Vasquez from Sons & Daughters in San Francisco. Jered and his lovely wife Sara asked me to come along and photograph the event at their studio in Richmond.
